Who am I talking about?

The amazing siblings that surround a special needs kiddo.

These siblings create a story all their own and it needs telling. These siblings acquire skills in both patience and understanding and receive a degree in Empathy that would challenge most adults!

They can find themselves lonely and wanting more time with parents, and it can be hard. They maneuver a world that can sometimes be cruel, and they persevere and protect others. But I often ask myself, who is protecting them?

They are true heroes, and I cannot tell you about our precious life journey without talking about my beautiful children. The ones without a diagnosis, but with deep needs of their own.

Join me for a 3 PART SERIES on Special needs siblings and how to best support them. I have been wanting to write on this subject for quite some time. It is a tender subject for me, as guilt and shame have often poked me as a mama while raising this unique and exceptional group. God has gently walked me though some of these deep emotions while offering me creative ways to connect with my own two typical kiddos.

For now, let me humbly show some beautiful sibling pictures that have stolen my heart…

Meet the Thorndikes - Moment to Moment Family

Hi there! We are the crazy cool parents to 5 amazing and crazy cool kiddos. But, first, we are Dan and Elizabeth Thorndike – married 15 years and living this life one moment at a time. We have a full and blessed life, but we are clumsily tackling a journey we never foresaw ourselves living.

Read our story of how this journey all started in our blog post titled:
“The Beginning. Our Special Needs Journey”

Introverted extrovert – that’s how I describe myself. I absolutely love being a mama but never knew how hard it would be, nor how deeply I could love.
