About twenty years ago, I came across a version of Psalm 139 that was new to me. As I read the thin pages of this bible, I came across a verse that literally jumped off the page. It was verse 14, and it read “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous, how well I know it.” My inner child began to jump up and down waving her arms and shouting, “That’s me, that’s me! I am complex and have so many different sides, so many different thoughts…”
It was the first time I read God’s word and felt truly understood; truly deeply loved for who I was. The dictionary defines the word complex as “composed of many interconnected parts.” When it comes to females, though, the world can define us as complicated, or even high maintenance. All these labels can come with shame and oppression.
Well…I say, “shame off you!”
I am wonderfully complex! I have different passions, different moods, different ideas, and any of these can change on any given day.
I love to be quiet and observe the world in one moment and then bust out a crazy dance move with my teenager in the middle of Target the next. They are all bits of me, and I will not be defined by any one of my many interconnected parts. I will, however, be defined by the way I embrace life and love. I will be defined by the way I treat others.
I was purposefully created to do amazing things in my life because of my complexities. God created desires in me and pointed me towards the paths I should wander. He also created my boldness and passion! So beautiful friends…let us stop apologizing for living this life out loud and start living, knowing there is a deep Love covering us all. He made us all wonderfully complex! We need all your bits!

Meet you in Target!!!
